Heating bills went up: causes and what to do

If bills rose more than energy prices, the usual causes are a fouled heat exchanger, wrong settings or an unbalanced system. Maintenance and tuning often pay back within one season.

How to recognise it

What you see – and what it usually means

The boiler cycles on and off oftenwrong output or settings – tuning
High flow temperaturea condensing boiler is not condensing – tuning
Heat pump efficiency droppedfouled evaporator or filters – maintenance

Likely causes and the right service

You can safely check

  • Check the pressure gauge (usually 1–2 bar for a cold system – see the manual).
  • Check that radiator thermostatic heads and manifold valves are open.
  • Note the error code and photograph the rating plate.

We do not give repair instructions: gas, electrical and pressurised systems are serviced by qualified specialists.

Smell gas? Do not switch anything electrical, close the gas valve if safe, open windows, leave and call 112.
Fault reporting

Report it in a minute – follow the status online

Choose the system and symptoms, add the error code and a photo. You get a number, a status page and a direct line to the technician. No heating in winter or a leak gets top priority.

See where the problem sits

The 3D house shows the heat source, pump group, manifolds and radiators with water flows – it is easier to understand what the technician will check.
